In the Geekbench tests, MediaTek MT6893 has scored 4108 points in the single-core test and 11204 in the multi-core test. For comparison, it has a higher single-core score and a lower multi-core score than Dimensity 1000+ chipset. The listing shows the MT6893 has a total of 8 cores and a base frequency of 2.0GHz.
A popular Chinese tipster goes by the name Digital Chat Station has more details about this new chipset. According to him, the eight cores in MediaTek MT6893 SoC includes 1 x 2.8GHz Cortex-A78 core, 3x 2.6GHz Cortex-A78 core, and 4 x 2.0GHz Cortex-A55 core. For graphics handling tasks, the chipset is integrated with Mali-G77 MC9 GPU.
The frequency of the chipset is the same as in Samsung’s Exynos 1080. Further, the tipster says that the MT6893 chipset will be officially unveiled as having a speed up to 3.0GHz. Hence, it seems that the company will introduce an overclocked version of the SoC that will capable of delivering speed up to 3.0GHz.
Some earlier reports point that MediaTek will announce two chipsets. One we have seen above, and the second one could be MT6891 for which details are unknown yet. The upcoming smartphones with MediaTek MT6893 SoC are expected to be priced around 2,000 yuan (roughly Rs 22,700 / $304). Xiaomi might be the first to bring its phone with this new chipset.
